Summary
Start Without a Shot transforms the race starting line into a moment of unity, not trauma or triggering of PTSD . By way of sound design rooted in the Ukrainian trembita and refined through neuroscience, we replaced the gunshot with a safe, resonant cue. Launched in Kyiv with Nova Post and global partners, the movement sets a new benchmark for inclusive sports culture worldwide.
Goals & Objectives
Reimagine the starting signal to eliminate harm while honoring tradition. Through sound, science, and culture, our objective was to create a clear, unmistakable cue that promotes safety, inclusivity, and empathy—inviting marathons worldwide to adopt a new global standard.
Results & Impact
Debuting at the First Barrier-Free Marathon, the new signal cut stress reactions 7x compared to gunshots. Backed by veterans, scientists, and runners, it sparked a global call for change—positioning Nova Post as a pioneer in empathetic innovation and reshaping race culture.
