About This Project
Summary
Me Period is more than a documentary. It is a bold declaration that young people deserve to know their bodies, own their stories, and walk into their next chapter of puberty with power, not shame. Featuring Tabitha Brown, Sheryl Lee Ralph, a board-certified OB-GYN, and a licensed therapist, it is a culturally competent teaching tool. It breaks silence, replaces stigma with truth, and equips communities to support young people with dignity and care.
Goals & Objectives
The goal of Me Period was to normalize conversations about menstruation, equip caregivers and communities with culturally relevant tools, and empower young people to navigate puberty with confidence, accurate information, and emotional support.
Results & Impact
Me Period was accepted into 4 film festivals and won the Audience Award at the Essence Film Festival. It screened in 10 states with over 2,500 attendees. The trailer reached 30,000 views on YouTube and the campaign generated over 40,000 website visits.
