About This Project
Summary
Puppy Cam is our annual livestream video of the latest litter of Canine Companions puppies born to become future service dogs. People understand that service dogs help people with disabilities, but few realize there are thousands of people waiting for a service dog, which entails two years at a cost of approx $50,000 per service dog. Puppy Cam was conceived as an engaging way educate the public about our mission to provide dogs 100% free to those who need them and recruit volunteer puppy raisers
Goals & Objectives
1) Engage GenZ and Millennial viewers to become familiar with Canine Companions’ mission; 2) Attract media to educate audiences about the process of raising & training service dogs; 3) Inspire volunteers to help raise puppies; 4) expand our newsletter subscribers & donor base.
Results & Impact
1) 90,249 social media impressions + 40,198 new video views (21% coming from GenZ / Millennial audiences); 2) 40+ television news segments reaching ~1 million viewers; 3) 12% increase in monthly website traffic to 154,949 sessions; 4) 375 newsletter signups.
