About This Project

Summary

To counter rising online misogyny, the "Turn Up Respect" campaign was launched under the Australian Government’s ‘Stop it at the Start’ initiative, targeting First Nations communities. Narrated by rapper Nooky, the campaign features stories & programs teaching respect, educating parents, and empowering communities to silence harmful voices and foster change in their own culturally-appropriate ways. Through film, motion graphics, and local champions, the strategy promotes respect and prevention.

Goals & Objectives

The campaign aimed to highlight links between online disrespect and violence, showcase First Nations prevention efforts, raise awareness of negative influences on youth, and promote ongoing conversations to challenge harmful attitudes toward women and violence.

Results & Impact

The “Turn Up Respect” resources are designed for lasting impact, empowering communities to share with youth as they grow. The campaign reached 12.6M people and generated 180+ media reports across mainstream and First Nations media, helping to normalise conversations about respect for women and girls
