About This Project

Summary

ARtefact Adventures is an augmented reality game that brings Barbadian history to life through immersive storytelling and mobile-first exploration. Developed in partnership with the Government of Barbados as part of the R.O.A.D. Programme, the game uses engaging quests and real-world landmarks to spark curiosity and cultural pride among children, helping preserve heritage while connecting it to the future.

Goals & Objectives

The goal was to make Barbadian history accessible and exciting for a younger audience by turning cultural learning into an interactive experience. We aimed to foster national pride, encourage exploration, and support intergenerational knowledge transfer through play.

Results & Impact

ARtefact Adventures launched in pilot form and was embraced by students and teachers alike. It transformed historical education into an engaging experience, connecting youth with cultural landmarks and ancestral stories. The game set a new precedent for education-led digital heritage in Barbados.
