About This Project
Summary
We brought storytelling and generative AI together to create Talking Portraits, interactive, AI-powered artworks that can see, hear, and hold unscripted conversations in real time. Debuted with Rembrandt’s self-portrait, the project blends computer vision, voice synthesis, and LLMs to create emotionally responsive digital characters that open new possibilities across culture, art, education, retail, and beyond.
Goals & Objectives
We set out to build a dynamic, real-time AI portrait capable of live conversation and perception. The goal was to push the boundaries of interactive technology and demonstrate how generative AI could bring cultural storytelling, education, and human-like digital engagement to life.
Results & Impact
Talking Portraits stunned internal audiences with real-time, responsive interactions, like recognizing birthday badges and adapting conversation naturally. It showed the potential of AI-powered storytelling to engage, educate, and scale across industries, from museums to classrooms and beyond.
