Summary
LEAD, an audio docudrama series, is the true story of one child, his mysterious lead poisoning and his mother’s unwavering fight to keep him safe. Written by Shannon Burkett based on her experience, this Official 2025 Tribeca Festival Selection podcast stars Merritt Wever, Alessandro Nivola, Cynthia Nixon, and her son, Cooper. By personalizing and humanizing those affected by lead poisoning, the creators hope to educate the public and inspire action to end this perfectly preventable disease.
Goals & Objectives
Using the LEAD podcast, we seek to educate, engage, connect, and activate the public, lead-impacted families, health care providers, and elected officials to advance lead poisoning prevention. Through trust building of the communities we reach, our hope is to get more stories to share and elevate.
Results & Impact
The podcast has been instrumental in aggregating a community of activists and invigorating the previously engaged organizations both on a local and international level. LEAD Talks is a spin off interview series that has highlighted the work being done and gives voice to the voiceless .
