About This Project

Summary

This film festival was created to honor filmmakers in Eastern/Northeastern NC, an area comprised largely of economically challenged rural communities. The home county for this festival is 63% African American, a radically underserved population in this arena. The founder has forged connections with filmmakers and industry professionals across the country, creating exciting networking, educational, and exhibit opportunities that participating filmmakers might never otherwise have had access to.

Goals & Objectives

Our goal is to spotlight regional filmmakers, strengthen cultural identity, and boost economic vitality in rural Eastern NC. By drawing filmmakers, audiences, and industry guests to the region, we aim to spark local spending, inspire future productions, and elevate underrepresented voices.

Results & Impact

The festival has become a cultural anchor, drawing diverse audiences and elevating local stories. This year, students engaged for the first time with three Hollywood professionals. Grassroots funding and record red carpet/Effie Awards attendance underscored pride and momentum.
