About This Project
Summary
Eight US Children, primarily black, die from gun violence daily. Faces Not Forgotten uniquely puts a FACE to each young gun violence victim, humanizing and dignifying each life taken with a hand painted portrait donated to the victims’ family to give COMFORT. We then EXHIBIT the FNF portrait Quilts to ELICIT deep compassion with trauma-informed EDUCATIONAL programming for survivor families and the community in the hopes of DISPELLING myths about gun violence and IGNITING CHANGE.
Goals & Objectives
FNF’s goal is to comfort families of children, primarily black, killed by gun violence with a hand painted portrait. We dignify each child, exhibiting the FNF art portrait Quilts with trauma informed and gun violence prevention programing to raise awareness of this horrific loss and ignite change.
Results & Impact
FNF, underfunded, donated 375+ portraits of US children killed by gun violence; received awards: Gold/Silver Anthem 2023/24; MLK Humanitarian (SIUE);featured on BBC, AIGA podcast; national TV/ print; and held numerous GVP collaborative exhibits including the Kennedy Center and National Cathedral.
