About This Project
Summary
The Catch is a podcast from Foreign Policy & Walton Family Foundation about the seafood we eat and the impact it has on local livelihoods & our oceans. Each season, our reporting team travels to one location to hear about a local catch and its journey through the global supply chain. On Season 5, our team traveled to Senegal & The Gambia to learn about fishmeal plants, how they impact local communities, and whether the industry, which underpins much of aquaculture, can become sustainable for all
Goals & Objectives
Our goal for The Catch was to create an educational, engaging, sound-rich podcast about the global fishing industry. We want our listeners to understand the long journey seafood takes from the ocean to our plates and the geopolitical and environmental impacts of that journey.
Results & Impact
The Catch has brought together many of the leading voices in the oceans & fish sphere—at conferences, panels, & live tapings—and has become, itself, a leading voice. World leaders, climate activists, UN officials have all joined The Catch to help grow awareness around global fishing and ocean health
