About This Project

Summary

GG & POP Institute is an artist-run gallery in East Harlem reimagining the traditional gallery model. Founded in 2023, we merge exhibitions, education, and community programs to center intergenerational creativity and cultural sustainability. Our hybrid nonprofit/commercial model incubates experimental work at GG & POP and connects artists to collectors through GPG—building resilience for artists while anchoring Harlem as a cultural innovator.

Goals & Objectives

Our goal is to reimagine the gallery as a cultural and community anchor—showcasing artists from early career to established and welcoming all ages. We design exhibitions and programs that build relationships, spark dialogue, and show how culture, community, and capital evolve together

Results & Impact

GG & POP has welcomed 20,000+ visitors, engaged 70+ artists, and reached students and families across Harlem. Our hybrid model sustains careers by helping artists sell their work and build collector bases in Harlem—a community often excluded from the art world.
