Summary
GirlTrek’s Self-Care School is a free, 10-week walking podcast that reimagines wellness as a daily act of resistance and joy for Black women. Each weekday, listeners engage in 30-minute audio lessons blending ancestral wisdom, cultural storytelling, and expert guidance on topics like mental health, financial freedom, and food as medicine. Rooted in the legacy of Freedom Schools, this immersive program mobilizes a global sisterhood to heal, organize, and reclaim their health, one step at a time.
Goals & Objectives
To inspire 100,000 Black women to walk daily as a healing practice, increase access to culturally relevant health education, and activate a national movement of self-care, sisterhood, and social justice through immersive, story-driven audio content.
Results & Impact
Over 100,000 women tuned in, walking over 1 million miles collectively. The podcast sparked viral engagement, community healing circles, and city-based activations, proving audio storytelling as a powerful tool for wellness, culture shift, and organizing.
