Summary
Plastic People: The Hidden Crisis of Microplastics launched a comprehensive 20-month long impact campaign alongside the film's release, focusing on the urgent health issue of microplastics. This initiative aims to shift the conversation toward the intersection of environmental and human health, engaging a broad range of partners at local, national, and international levels. We worked with 18 impact partners such as WWF, Break Free From Plastic & Plastic Pollution Coalition to amplify messaging.
Goals & Objectives
Key objectives: Raise awareness of microplastics’ health risks and integrate into healthcare; influence policymakers to prioritize microplastics in the global UN Plastics Treaty; empower citizens to cut exposure, make informed choices, and push reps for strong treaty commitments.
Results & Impact
By The Numbers: - Screened in 29 countries in 9 languages incl three UN INC Treaty meetings - Won Best Science & Tech Doc at Rockie Awards & others - 13k+ followers on social media (almost all organic) - Over 4.4m video views - 144 community and educational screenings with education guides created
