About This Project
Summary
The Clean Earth Challenge, launched by Johnson Outdoors (JO) with the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), has become a worldwide movement rooted in local action. From neighborhood parks to coastlines across four continents, families, schools, nonprofits, and 50+ partners—including Behr Paints, Major League Fishing, and New York Life—join in simple, repeatable cleanups that restore outdoor spaces and connect people more deeply to nature.
Goals & Objectives
The Clean Earth Challenge set out to inspire a global grassroots movement—starting with Johnson Outdoors employees across 17 locations—to remove one million pieces of litter through simple, shared actions that grow into lasting habits, strengthening care for our environment and communities.
Results & Impact
Small acts became global impact—11M pieces of litter removed, 1,000% above goal. Participation grew from 106K to nearly 1M. Thousands of JO employees and countless volunteers from 50+ partners powered cleanups worldwide, proving that community-driven action can create measurable change.
