About This Project
Summary
With a single mother forced to travel for abortion care as the film’s plot, a new, sustainable, repeatable model for film as a tool of measurable advocacy and non-partisan social progress launched Summer ‘24, pre-elections, as 11 states had abortion-related ballot measures. Our coalition of national and local 501c3 reproductive and economic justice orgs, celebrities, and advocates created public and private events in 11 states, provided digital resources/access, and was sustainably financed.
Goals & Objectives
The campaign for Nazrin Choudhury’s Oscar-nominated film provided reproductive/economic justice orgs with innovative fundraising, visibility, and engagement opportunities and brought the film’s dialogue to those traditionally closed to it, e.g. different faiths, economic realities & partisanship.
Results & Impact
A self-sustaining model; live and online events in 20+ locales including evangelical spaces (e.g. AZ, GA, MI, NC, PA, WI); $100,000+ to 14 c3 orgs; two-weeks free viewing on YouTube/1 million+ views; millions of press impressions; livestreamed student-led town hall from UPenn Carey Law School.
