Growing up online: what's behind my social networks? (Grandir en ligne: qu'est-ce qui se cache derrière mes réseaux sociaux?))
MAJ / Radio-Canada PROJECTAbout This Project
Summary
Growing up online gives young people a voice in their relationship with social networks. It's also a tool, designed with and for them, to help them better understand how social platforms work, and learn how to use them in a balanced way. Through the reflections of young people and their experiences, we question our uses, what holds us captive or what influences us (positively or not). Added to this are meetings with experts who inform and suggest ways of achieving greater digital well-being.
Goals & Objectives
Growing up online aims to educate young people about how the social media platforms they use every day work. The project aims to develop critical thinking about their own behavior and consumption of social networks. We have also developed a pedagogical kit for teachers who show this film in class.
Results & Impact
Growing up online and its related social media content have been viewed 2 498 331 times, making it the most viewed content in our history. We’re also proud that our work was widely shared by Common sense media in L.A and has been acquired by TV5 World for worldwide distribution.
