2025 McNulty Prize winner Mohamed Ali Diini leads Iftin Global in Somalia, where conflict and trauma have hindered social and economic opportunities. The micro-doc showshis leadership and breakthrough model for healing, education, and empowerment for young people in conflict zones worldwide. The McNulty Prize, jointly awarded with the Aspen Institute, recognizes visionary leaders addressing global challenges. Winners receive funding and support valued at $350,000, including a micro-doc.
Goals & Objectives
The micro-doc spotlights Iftin’s impact—from building Somalia’s first professional mental health workforce to reaching 300,000+ people through programs that promote healing, inclusion, and community resilience. The doc is part of the Prize, in the belief that storytelling can drive change.
Results & Impact
Pending wider distribution, the micro-doc premiered at the Resnick Aspen Action Forum, a gathering of 500+ global leaders, funders, and organizations. The debut sparked interest in replicating Iftin’s mental health breakthroughs beyond Somalia to the 2 billion people living in other conflict zones.
