In a time when the financial model for public media area is in jeopardy, this interactive feature profiles the effort led by the WGBH Educational Foundation and the American Archive of Public Broadcasting to digitize, preserve, and make accessible decades of at-risk public radio and television content. The story interweaves rarely seen digitized archival footage alongside project leaders to show how a small team is safeguarding access to some of the most important moments in US history.

Show, through stunning photography and video, a behind-the-scenes look at media preservation techniques Spotlight the unsung heroes of archiving, media preservation, and the work of the Library of Congress Connect readers to resources for accessing historical television and radio programming

Results & Impact

Reached wide public audience of 1MM annual web visitors, 65K email subscribers, and 130K combined social followers via Foundation's digital channels. Screened at Boston Public Library discussion featuring Carla Hayden, the 14th Librarian of Congress.
