About This Project
Summary
Inspired by the work of National Geographic Explorer and photographer, Anand Varma, WonderLab Learning Resources is a collection of resources for educators to bring wonder and curiosity back into classrooms. The collection consists of flexible, nonstandard aligned short activities, learning tools, professional learning resources and videos. The “I Wonder" video series demonstrates how science coupled with visual storytelling sparks curiosity and creates a deeper connection to our natural world.
Goals & Objectives
Inspire educators and youth “to slow down and look for mysteries hiding in plain sight.” Take the time to explore the wonder of our world, support scientific thinking and develop the attitudes and skills of the Explorer Mindset: curiosity, empathy, collaboration, communication and problem-solving.
Results & Impact
6533 total users since 9/26/23 (+10k pageviews). A 2024 pilot study found the resources encouraged learners to engage in deeper observations making science more accessible and relatable to them, making space for exploration and encouraging educators to reflect on their own instructional practice.
