Née Danse/Theatre PROJECTAbout This Project
Summary
"An Unfinished Herstory" celebrated International Women's Day's (2024 & 2025) by highlighting women performer's achievements across social, economic, cultural, and political spheres. Née Danse/Theatre issued a "Call to Participate" to women performers in the greater Philadelphia region and invited them to submit short works. In 2024, "An Unfinished Herstory" featured twenty performing artists (dancers, actors, singers, poets, clown). Thirty-five women shared the stage for the 2025 production.
Goals & Objectives
The primary goal of "An Unfinished Herstory" is to bring together a multigenerational, multidiscipline, diverse group of women performing artists to build a community of support for their work. Née Danse/Theatre provided the venue, technical support and PR/Marketing to make this magical event happen
Results & Impact
All performers were seated on the stage sides during the entire performances. The most repeated response from performers and audience members was how heartening it was to see all the women take care of each other during the show (moving the piano, setting up chairs, props). An incredible impact!
