Summary
In 2024 we planned on mounting our Anthem Award winning Flag in The Map exhibit at WorldPride DC in June 2025. After the reelection of President Trump, the new administration started pressuring local venues to deny access to anything LGBTQ+ and everything rainbow. Many organizations decided to withdraw from the event. We decided to lean in and do more. In addition to our exhibition, we reunited eight pieces of Gilbert’s historic mile long flag and organized a panel at the Human Rights Confere
Goals & Objectives
Our goal was to resist the movement to erase us. In a powerful declaration of defiance amid mounting attacks we led the parade with a 1,000-foot rainbow flag carried by 500 members of the Gay Men’s Chorus of DC We also hosted a panel exploring the history/role of LGBTQ+ flags in a hostile society.
Results & Impact
Our presence at WorldPride DC reflected the reach of our foundation. The epic spectacle of visibility dominated the news, incl. NY Times, NPR, FOX News, Washington Post and NY Daily News. We created 3 ads about the event. 68,802 saw our ads, 27,022 engaged & 1,735 clicked through to our landing pa
