About This Project
Summary
Rosalie Bay Distillery, on the Caribbean island of Dominica, is a new and innovative model for sustainable, long-lasting support of marine conservation and ocean science. Rosalie Bay Distillery is a locally-based, organic, carbon-neutral rum distillery that creates jobs for Dominicans and returns 100% of profits to funding marine conservation efforts aimed at the health of Dominica’s marine ecosystems and the coastal communities that depend on healthy oceans for their livelihoods and well-being.
Goals & Objectives
Dominica is a tiny island that few people have heard of, and our communities live on the front lines of climate change. We set out to create a sustainable, resilient, long-lasting source of income for our conservation work so that the ocean and our communities who depend on it can thrive together.
Results & Impact
Our motto is “Pour to Protect,” and sales of our rum directly fund our projects in coral reef monitoring and restoration, sea turtle conservation, protection of whales, monitoring marine biodiversity, and protecting the ocean and the communities who depend on it for their livelihoods.
