Data-Driven Policing for Women's Safety: Safecity & Haryana Police Collaboration
Red Dot Foundation PROJECTAbout This Project
Summary
Red Dot Foundation (Safecity) and Haryana Police have partnered to improve women’s safety through crowdsourced, anonymized data. By identifying unsafe public spaces, training officers in gender sensitivity, and fostering community trust, the initiative enables evidence-based policing and targeted interventions. This collaborative model transforms safety into a shared civic responsibility and offers a scalable solution for safer cities.
Goals & Objectives
To reduce sexual and gender-based violence by identifying unsafe public spaces through crowdsourced data, strengthen gender-sensitive policing, increase community trust in law enforcement, and influence evidence-based policies for safer, more inclusive cities.
Results & Impact
Trained 75 police officers in gender sensitivity, collected 4,000+ anonymous reports, and engaged 1,000+ community members. Led to a 30% increase in incident reporting and improved trust in police. Data insights informed targeted safety interventions and policy discussions.
