About This Project

Summary

About 7,000 U.S. men and women were killed in post-9/11 combat, but more than 30,000 of the Global War on Terror have taken their own lives. Post-traumatic Stress Disorder played a major role in a majority of the suicides. "PTSD: The Invisible Enemy" explores the causes, results and treatment of PTSD. This is a film of hope and help. Many veterans do not seek treatment because of the stigma of having a mental health problem. The film includes many veterans who talk of their struggles.

Goals & Objectives

The goal of the film is to save lives by showing struggling veterans that effective help is available. The film stresses that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. The film is being shown statewide and reaching a large audience.

Results & Impact

The film is being shown on commercial television and in special showings. The VA and Vet Centers are providing literature that we distribute at our showings. We anticipate showings in festivals throughout the country and we are investigating a national audience.
