Summary
NMAAHC's Office of Public Affairs presented "Breathe In: An Ancestral Awakening Through Collective Healing," a series of reflection moments in association with the museum’s exhibition, “In Slavery’s Wake: Making Black Freedom in the World.” The series was designed to cultivate a shared space where participants could reconnect with their ancestral roots, find inner peace, and engage in healing practices that honor the enduring strength of the African American spirit.
Goals & Objectives
1. Invite locals to mindful activations exploring the importance of rest, reflection and rejuvenation 2. Emphasize self-care as a collective act of resistance and restoration 3. Introduce participants to the freedom-making practices of Black communities navigating legacies of slavery and colonialism

3 events hosted with wellness activations like yoga and Zumba sessions, hand massages, henna tattoos, nail art & panel discussions Over 300 attendees from across the region participated Earned 4.8/5 survey rating Potential reach of 531,500 for UGC content posted by attendees about ways to learn more
