Summary
Trust for Public Land (TPL) secured $2M to transform Castellanos Elementary into a vibrant community green space, marking the first completed project in its mission to green 28 schoolyards in LA by the 2028 Olympics. The “28x28” Initiative will provide equitable park access to more than 1.5M LA residents currently lacking a close-to-home park. Through a student-led design process, the Castellanos schoolyard was reimagined, replacing asphalt and dirt with climate-resilient features and greenspace
