About This Project
Summary
In 2024, Xceleader, one of the nation’s most innovative nonprofit organizations led by HBCU alumni and dedicated to HBCUs, and HeadCount, the country’s leading nonpartisan youth voter registration and mobilization initiative. Together, we registered 859 students across 10 HBCUs in less than 30 days and inspired a new generation of HBCU students to reimagine civic engagement, celebrating the rich and historic culture that lives on HBCU campuses through the Vote HBCU® program.
Goals & Objectives
We set a goal to increase voter registration, education, and engagement among HBCU students by centering culture and community, while empowering HBCU voters to lead civic change ahead of the 2024 election through on-campus activations and peer mobilization.
Results & Impact
In under 30 days, Vote HBCU registered 859 students across 10 campuses with 20 events, reached 319K+ accounts online, engaged 6.5K students in-person and inspired a wave of student-led voter activation events—cementing HBCU students as powerful voices in shaping the future of our democracy.
