About This Project
Summary
Committed to reporting on the growing front lines of the climate crisis, "ABC World News Tonight" anchor David Muir and his small team traveled to South Sudan, where more than one million people are now facing severe food insecurity, and millions more are displaced due to the worst floods here since the 1960s.
Goals & Objectives
What is happening in South Sudan is a climate crisis that’s made an already hard life even harder. But the people we met are resilient, and we were intent on documenting their strength as they struggled to keep their families alive.
Results & Impact
The report aired across ABC News platforms as that crisis raged, cutting off more than 200,000 people from crucial aid. As a result of the report, ABC News viewers donated more than $5 million to support humanitarian efforts in South Sudan – a record after a news report.
