About This Project
Summary
Sifting through misinformation is an increasing challenge for journalists in the age of AI-generated content and fast evolving social networks. News professionals now need to quickly assess and verify online content as well as reporting on the ground on events from elections to wars or health emergencies. To respond to a growing need for up-to-date training, AFP developed an interactive platform with examples, tips and verification techniques from the world’s largest team of fact checkers.
Goals & Objectives
The training helps students to search more efficiently online, verify images and videos, learn from examples of disinformation in different countries and contexts and refine their online skills to avoid being misled by false information. The aim is to train as many journalists as possible.
Results & Impact
In two years, more than 20,000 journalists and journalism students have registered on the platform. Hundreds of journalists and journalism professors had given extremely positive feedback (some of which is on the platform), with an average rating of 4.35/5.
