About This Project

Summary

How can we close gaps in education, justice, health, and economic opportunity rooted in systemic inequality? In 2021, AIR launched the Equity Initiative, a $100M+ investment in behavioral and social science research and technical assistance to increase opportunities in communities segregated by race and place. The 2023 Equity Initiative impact report underscores collaborative partnerships vital to this mission and opens the door for new partners and communities to join us.

Goals & Objectives

The report aims to showcase the difference being made through the Initiative’s $78M investment so far and introduce new audiences to community-focused grantmaking. The report targets potential partners and grantees, school and legal system leaders, students, parents, researchers, and policymakers.

Results & Impact

With a dynamic landing page, map, infographics, and video, the report sparked conversation on evidence-informed, community-rooted approaches to increasing equity. In just over two months, the report was viewed online over 2,000 times and resulted in nearly 400 direct engagements on social media.
