About This Project
Summary
The Shelter Client Information App (SCIA) digitally transformed client service at disaster shelters ensuring Red Cross volunteers know which clients have what needs and can begin addressing them as soon as the client checks in. Replacing paper records, SCIA provides real-time summary information to decision makers and specific needs to workers to aid clients who have been evacuated from their homes get on the path to recovery. With or without electricity and internet, this app speeds care.
Goals & Objectives
Eliminating paper records enables faster response, safer handling of client data, remote volunteering, real-time dashboarding, quicker needs assessments, standard data collection, faster reporting for government and NGO partners, family reunification after evacuation, and improved client care.
Results & Impact
Families have been reunited due to a central client database. Mental/physical health needs are being addressed soon after check-in thanks to the app prioritizing what is needed and alerting the right workers to assist. Case workers are more efficient due to elimination of duplicate data entry.
