About This Project
Summary
I AM FREE TO DREAM™, launched through the new nonprofit FREE TO DREAM™ led by artist, actor, and activist Common in partnership with American Student Assistance® (ASA), empowers opportunity youth—including those impacted by the justice system—to reclaim their right to dream and turn aspirations into action. Through storytelling, workshops, and digital tools, the campaign connects inspiration to real-world career pathways, helping youth map dreams to futures with purpose, skills, and support.
Goals & Objectives
In Year 1, we aimed to reach 1,000 opportunity youth through DREAM SUMMITs using the Dreamkeeper Toolkit: a framework for adults guiding youth who may not feel permission to dream. The Toolkit is in "beta" with a full launch planned for Fall 2025.
Results & Impact
We successfully engaged 1k youth in Year 1 through the beta version of the Toolkit. We held two DREAM SUMMITs including one at All-Star Weekend in partnership with the NBA Foundation, one of many partners deepening impact. In Year 2, we aim to reach 50k youth.
