About This Project

Summary

Firearms are the leading cause of death for American children and teens. Tens of thousands of people die annually in America from gun violence each year. In most cases, authorities are informed after a crime has been committed.How can we try to save lives of those that are caught in the moment? could we use AI to help predict gun violence before someone becomes a victim? could we alert authorities that a specific school or store or gathering is about to experience gun violence before it happens?

Goals & Objectives

Mission is to save lives from gun violence. Objectives: a. Analyze thousands of minutes of gun violence videos from schools, streets, stores.. b. Identify distinct visual clues from the analysis that can be taught to AI c. Develop threat detection scalable vision AI model to detect threat & alert

Results & Impact

Our AI model works with existing installed cameras to improve adoption, the model detects threat based on human posture, presence of weapon, and the state of a physical object in the video frame. The resulting solution is able to predict threat before someone is victimized and mobilize help quickly.
