About This Project

Summary

AmpleHarvest.org’s mission is to provide food insecure people with a sustained source of fresh, nutritious produce by educating and enabling America’s 62M gardeners to donate their surplus harvests to local food pantries. Gardeners have access to our registry of 8,200+ pantries in 5,600 communities nationwide via an online search engine. This is a grassroots solution that utilizes local resources to permanently solve hunger and food waste, and improves the overall health of the community.

Goals & Objectives

Our goal is to inspire a behavioral shift among America's 62 million gardeners. We envision a future where all gardeners naturally donate surplus, knowing they can nourish food insecure neighbors. Simultaneously, every food pantry in America will be accessible to both gardeners and those in need.

Results & Impact

About 25% of America’s food pantries have already joined AmpleHarvest.org. Our data indicates that we’ve reached about 20% of all gardeners. Given the average gardener grows 240 lbs surplus annually, the impact is huge. The potential healthcare savings to the nation of a full build out is over $58B.
