Celebrating 40 years of the Hispanic Convocation: Arizona State University
Arizona State University PROJECTAbout This Project
Summary
This project was created to highlight the 40th Anniversary of Arizona State University's Hispanic Convocation which honors the accomplishments of ASU's Hispanic community. Beginning as a student-led grassroots event the convocation initially faced resistance from the university before officially being recognized and becoming the largest multicultural event on campus. Strategy was to showcase the growth of the event and celebrate the community to a record-high 9,100 attendees and 950 graduates.
Goals & Objectives
We wanted to showcase the impact the Hispanic community at ASU has had the last 40 years while highlighting the legacy of those who made this all possible. The goal was to inspire graduates through their heritage and future generations who can view this as something they can achieve as well.
Results & Impact
From 49 registrants in 1984 to 950 in 2024 the event continues to thrive over its 40 years. Inspired over the decades, ASU has since created a convocation to celebrate every heritage and diversity. The piece was played during the convocation to a crowd of 10,000 with another 610 views on YouTube.
