About This Project

Summary

I launched a magazine for transplant and chronic illness patients, caregivers, donors and their families. It was born out of the aftermath of my own heart transplant at the age of 42 in 2022. I found myself feeling very alone in all of this. I wanted to create a magazine that mirrored stories like mine, showed people with scars like mine and reminded all of us that no matter what the diagnoses is - we will have a beautiful life.

Goals & Objectives

The first issue was released in July of 2024. It is print - as I feel like when you are an eternal patient it is very easy to doom scroll our devices. I wanted to create something that got us to disconnect for social media and be able to read stories that were inspiring.

Results & Impact

The first issue sold 200 copies in the first few weeks. National hospitals are buying copies for their patients. The stories and messages I have received back are incredible. It is helping to feel less alone and it reminds us that we are more alike than not. It has been a beautiful thing.
