About This Project
Summary
The Center for Scholars & Storytellers (CSS) works with youth, the academic and creative communities to unlock the power of storytelling to help the next generation thrive and grow. Today’s adolescents (ages 10-25) face a mental health crisis, and with more screen time than ever, storytelling plays a critical role in their lives. CSS created the “Teens and Screens” Survey 2023 to give storytellers deep new insights into the perspectives of this influential audience.
Goals & Objectives
Our goal was to capture authentic, adolescent perspectives on the types of entertainment content they consume – and share their views with creators, storytellers and the media. We set a high bar – we wanted to double our press coverage and downloads of our 2022 Teens & Screens Report.
Results & Impact
Our report made worldwide headlines, with 800 press stories in 32 countries and an estimated audience of 2.1B people, up 2000% from 2022. Coverage has included NPR, USA Today, and EW, and even Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The New York Times. The report has been downloaded five times more than in 2022.
