About This Project
Summary
In partnership with the American Society for Deaf Children and NVIDIA, we created Signs, an AI-powered sign language learning platform. Using computer vision and real-time feedback, Signs turns any camera into an interactive ASL coach. It teaches users with a 3D avatar, corrects hand positions, and builds a growing open-source dataset, making sign language learning more accessible, inclusive, and intuitive for all.
Goals & Objectives
We set out to make ASL learning more accessible for Deaf children, their families, and allies by combining AI and computer vision into an interactive platform that provides real-time feedback, builds community, and contributes to the development of inclusive, AI-powered communication tools.
Results & Impact
With zero paid media, Signs reached 20 million people in its first week and earned over 1 billion impressions. More than 20,000 signs were learned in 10 days. The platform now hosts 400,000+ video clips and a growing open-source dataset, fueling a new era of inclusive AI.
