About This Project
Summary
Jaewon Choi has founded and led the DMUN Foundation, the world's largest youth-led international NGO, since 2021. He established the Foundation during the COVID-19 lockdowns as one of the first virtual Model UN conferences and has since grown it into a global youth organization that represents the collective voice of over 27,284 members across 172 countries and territories in over 60 intergovernmental processes and organizations.
Goals & Objectives
Prompted by a participant from the village of Kasenyi in Uganda who lacked the means to travel to the capital for the nearest Model UN, Jaewon prompted the Foundation to provide free and online programs for all young people, developing it into a path to the negotiating table for grassroots youth.
Results & Impact
Jaewon's work supported over 419 young people, more than 80% from the Global South, to participate in international negotiations in 2026 alone. They collectively submitted 318 written comments and inputs and delivered 152 speeches, winning over 47 textual changes in international treaties.
