About This Project
Summary
The DMUN Foundation holds over 60 participatory and observer statuses in international organizations and treaty bodies because it is an international NGO. We sought to utilize this status to enable marginalized youth, particularly from least developed, landlocked, and small island developing countries, to participate in international meetings and negotiations. The Foundation provides training, in-kind support for transportation and accommodations, and the necessary access to participate.
Goals & Objectives
We sought to ensure that grassroots youth and youth organizations, particularly from marginalized and underrepresented communities, could contribute their lived expertise to international organizations like the United Nations so that its decisions accurately reflect the voice of the world's youth.
Results & Impact
Our program supported over 419 young people, more than 80% from the Global South, to participate in international negotiations. They collectively submitted 318 written comments and inputs and delivered 152 speeches, winning over 47 textual changes to decisions, treaties, and resolutions.
