About This Project
Summary
With 40 million illiterate US adults, countless kids of illiterate parents aren’t being read to causing them to miss key developmental milestones. To inspire illiterate adults, ProLiteracy, a nonprofit teaching adults how to read and write, helped a student become the first illiterate mother to share a bedtime story. In a short film, we showed the mother’s story and her use of voice cloning tech that made her impossible bedtime story possible, which was launched on International Literacy Day.
Goals & Objectives
ProLiteracy wanted to reach America’s 40 million illiterate adults - inspiring them to embrace their literacy journey. ProLiteracy also wanted to speak to the nonprofit literacy sector as a whole, encouraging NGO’s to embrace unconventional solutions and the power of tech, by leading by example.
Results & Impact
This was shared with 5000 US literacy NGOs that support 1.1M people. We shared the potential of AI as a literacy tool on social. We drove wider awareness with recognition from the Webbys (2x winners), AdAge, Yahoo News and more. We’re now in talks with potential partners to scale the technology.
