About This Project

Summary

DYPER, the closest-to-zero impact diapering journey currently available, focuses on reducing the environmental toll of disposable baby diapers and training pants, which results in 58.6 tonnes of carbon each year. REDYPER, the company’s landfill avoidance program is the first (and only!) optional service based in the U.S. allowing for convenient drop-off, mail-away, or curbside pickup of dirty diapers, where they are then sent to be commercially composted or turned into biochar.

Goals & Objectives

To scale this end-of-life solution for single-use diapers, REDYPER debuted BYOCHAR™ technology, becoming the first diapering in the world company to turn soiled diapers into biochar, a carbon-rich product created pyrolysis, which allows for waste to be transformed into a reusable commodity.

Results & Impact

REDYPER diverts 14+ tons of diapers from landfills each week. More than 15 million pounds of diapers have been industrially composted and turned into a nutrient-rich topsoil used for large-scale landscaping projects, roadside plantation and growing sod.
