About This Project
Summary
In 2020, youth not in employment, education or training (NEET) rose to 23.3% – a level not seen in 15 years. To reach this marginalized group, EY and Microsoft's Green Skills Passport (GSP) offers free, online training to NEET youth. The GSP teaches sustainability skills to help NEET youth succeed in the fast-growing green economy, where 24 million jobs will be created by 2030. It also connects participants to job search resources and gives them a credible certificate to aid in job applications.
Goals & Objectives
GSP aims to reduce the societal cost of unused young talent, which harms both economic and social wellbeing. By empowering marginalized youth with green skills and job search and application support, GPS will not only improve social equity but help to build the workforce for a green economy.
Results & Impact
In 2023, GSP launched in 5 countries with the content in various languages. By 2024, we expanded to 8 countries, with 53,000 registrations and 41,000 course completions. 61% of those completing the course, plan to apply for green jobs and 43% plan to enrol in a sustainability degree.
