About This Project
Summary
80 million people worldwide need wheelchairs. Free Wheelchair Mission, the largest nonprofit manufacturer of wheelchairs partnered with Invacare, one of the largest for profit medical device companies to give the gift of mobility. For over five years, Invacare has shared its expertise with Free Wheelchair Mission to create low-cost wheelchairs. In May 2024, Invacare gathered its international team to participate in Free Wheelchair Mission's Move for Mobility to fundraise for wheelchairs.
Goals & Objectives
Through this partnership, both Free Wheelchair Mission and Invacare aimed to spread awareness about the global need for wheelchairs. The goal was also to involve more people worldwide in fundraising to provide wheelchairs to people who need them most.
Results & Impact
This year had record-breaking Move for Mobility participation with about 800 total participants in 20 countries worldwide. The overall Move for Mobility campaign provided more than 1,700 wheelchairs. Move for Mobility had over 1 million impressions across digital platforms.
