About This Project
Summary
The Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress was borne out of a need to unite the diversity of actors required to co-design and realize informed sustainability options. Moving away from one-way information sharing, the congress adopted an interactive approach to its program. Also recognizing the need to reduce carbon footprints and encourage local-to-global exchanges, SRI has developed a hub-and-spoke convening with a main hybrid congress connected to regional satellite events.
Goals & Objectives
SRI strives to be an inclusive platform, attracting public, private, academic, indigenous and youth organizations from more than 100 countries each year. Innovative engagements help bridge different cultures and vocabularies to bring sectors together under one sustainability umbrella.
Results & Impact
SRI has supported the growth of a cross-cutting community of sustainability actors who are transforming policy and practice around the world. The congress design has sparked new collaborations, understanding, and funding to accelerate solutions at the nexus of science and society.
