About This Project
Summary
Javier in Frame is about a blind man documenting his life — from finding love to starting a family. To take photos of each moment, he uses Guided Frame, Google’s AI-powered accessibility feature for the Pixel camera that uses a combination of audio cues, high-contrast animations and haptic feedback. Google partnered with Adam Morse, a blind director, and experimented with unconventional techniques to help put the viewer inside the perspective of Javier.
Goals & Objectives
Taking and sharing photographs is a central part of how we connect, but for the 300 million people in the world living with a visual impairment, this can be surprisingly difficult. Google saw an opportunity to show how inclusive AI tools are helping to make the world a more equitable place.
Results & Impact
Debuting “Javier in Frame” at Super Bowl LVIII helped elevate the Guided Frame feature and Google’s overall commitment to accessibility and building products for all. In one month, the spot received 50M+ views on YouTube and placed first in Kellogg’s Super Bowl Advertising Review.
