Summary

The Africa Online Safety Platform, accessible at no cost, is the first comprehensive repository of online safety resources tailored specifically to the African context. Key features include the aggregation of Africa-focused online safety research, the curation of best-practice educational content and training tools for teachers, parents, and individuals of all ages, and the provision of tools and resources to assist those seeking guidance and justice in the event of online violations.

Goals & Objectives

Aggregate existing research on online safety in Africa, identify research gaps and commission new research to inform interventions. Tailor educational materials to diverse cultural and socioeconomic contexts across Africa. Provide support for victims of online crimes across 54 African countries.

Funding 48 African online safety organisations; Education/capacity development of online safety innovators; Developing database of African online safety organisations; Facebook reached 829.2k people across Africa, Platform average of 2.9K sessions, a 34.63% engagement rate, accumulated 16.6K events.
