About This Project
Summary
At IAPW, we empower kids through education, mentoring, & the arts, giving them a voice & the skills needed to be leaders of today. Two of our pint-size activists, sisters Lucia (12yrs) & Luna (9yrs), lead various social impact projects in their community. One signature initiative is The SOUPer Bowl, a campaign to teach young people about childhood hunger and to give them tools & inspiration to support kids & families facing food insecurity in their communities. A 100% youth-driven initiative!
Goals & Objectives
Goals of the SOUPer Bowl: to teach kids about childhood hunger, cultivating their natural empathy, guiding them to present about childhood hunger to their classmates, and to launch food drives at their schools & in their communities,
Results & Impact
Lucia & Luna engaged 500+ students from K-8th grade, teaching via a toolkit + workshop they designed & conducted themselves. With participants in LA, DC, Maryland & Virginia, the girls' impact reached far & wide. In 2024, their food drives collected over 1000lbs of food and impacted 800+ families.
