About This Project

Summary

We crafted a comprehensive Impact Strategy for our documentary "Turtle Walker." We sought to leverage Satish's story to inspire action. Divided into pre-release and post-release phases, we partnered with Reefwatch, WCS-India, MCI, Dristhi, HHMI, and Jackson Wild to support marine conservation efforts and promote green filmmaking. Phase one focused on creating a Marine Mammal Stranding Network and MPA assessments, while phase two focuses more on education and outreach around the film.

Goals & Objectives

Find a way to directly support the Turtles whose Satish's life's work was about thus honoring his legacy. Educate and inspire the next generation of Turtle Walkers and help people learn how to support marine conservation in India and abroad. Start a discussion around the need for greener filmmaking.

Results & Impact

Raised $265,000 for 3 years of a Marine Mammal Stranding Network program in 2 states on the west coast of India with plans to expand. 650+ strandings attended to, and 100+ rehabilitated. Reefwatch is currently finalizing an academic paper on work. Support UNFCCC's new ECCA accord on green filmmaking
