About This Project
Summary
Mónica Ramírez is the daughter of a farmworker community, an attorney, a trailblazing social entrepreneur, and activist dedicated to fighting for the civil and human rights of migrant and rural women and their families. Mónica founded Justice for Migrant Women by utilizing a ground-up approach to define success and advance solutions within the intersection of working people's rights and anti-sexual violence. She utilizes a gender equity lens to shift the narrative through powerful storytelling.
Goals & Objectives
Mónica continues to lead the movement to protect migrant and rural women from gender-based violence. Her goal is to unite allies and rally global leaders to this mission of building workplace safety and dignity. The goal is to ratify ILO Convention on Violence and Harassment (C190) in the U.S.
Results & Impact
Through Mónica’s strategy and capacity to build coalitions, J4MW hosted a United Nations convening in April, urging global leaders to ratify Convention 190. With 44 countries onboard, the treaty serves as the global standard to address and end gender-based violence, including harassment.
